Through four seasons as the Cardinal head coach, David Shaw holds a remarkable 42-12 (.778) career record and is 28-8 (.778) in Pac-12 play. He notched 30 wins in his first 35 games, which was the third fastest among active coaches, and was one of only three coaches to lead his team to BCS bowls in his first three years as a head coach.

   Shaw represents the Pac-12 on the AFCA Ethics Committee and is one of 18 individuals named to USA Football's newly created Football Advisory Committee. He was named AFCA Regional Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2011, and Pac-12 Conference Coach of the Year in 2012 and 2011.     

   Prior to his appointment as head coach, Shaw served as Stanford’s offensive coordinator for four seasons. Prior to Stanford, Shaw served as the wide receivers and passing game coordinator at the University of San Diego 2006, winning the Division I-AA Mid-Major national title and the Pioneer League championship. Shaw’s coaching resume also includes nine years of NFL experience with the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens.

   A four-year letter winner at Stanford from 1991-94 as a receiver, Shaw was a member of Stanford’s 1991 Aloha Bowl team coached by Dennis Green and 1993 Blockbuster Bowl team under head coach Bill Walsh.
